About Andre

I'm André Darmanin, an urban strategist and Principal of Cultural Nexus Group. I was born and raised in Toronto, hold Maltese citizenship, and bring twenty years of experience to the question that has driven my whole career. How do we move people well?

My foundation is in transit operations, and over two decades, my practice has grown to span transit policy, housing, cultural planning and equity. What ties it together is cultural intelligence. The belief that cities and the institutions serving them succeed when leadership understands the cultural forces shaping how residents live and move, and that this understanding can be developed, deployed strategically and measured.

Through Cultural Nexus Group, I work as a strategist and advisor, helping public sector leaders and mission-driven organizations make sharper decisions. My approach is built on comparisons, not prescriptions. I read the differences between how North American and European cities operate, and translate the global into the local.

I write and speak on cultural intelligence in transit leadership, and my current research examines mobility capital and the movement of people.

Toronto is home. My outlook is global.
